Iris' Loom Knit & Crochet for Poor People: NOT FOR SALE!

NOT FOR SALE: I DON'T SELL ANY of these craft items I make!

I use my Knifty Knitter and other knitting looms to make mostly hats and scarves to give away, free of any charge, to POOR PEOPLE of ALL AGES. I don't judge why they need to stay warm in the cold Winter months.
I don't care what habits they have, why they are poor or homeless, or why they cannot afford a nice, clean warm hat or scarf. I don't want them to freeze!
I also feel that getting a warm handmade gift will help them to know someone CARES about them.
My loom knitting is my hobby and also a form of "craft therapy" for me. I don't sell anything I make.
I encourage others to learn loom knitting or crochet or other types or knitting (hand needle knitting or machine knitting) and to make things to give to poor people of all ages in need. Please don't ask me to send you anything because my hands are FULL with my own projects to give to poor people in need. Just look around your own area for poor people in need, use your own craft skills (or go on-line and learn how to crochet, knit, or loom knit, or find someone to teach you how) and have fun making warm things for people in need. It is very satisfying and you can do it from your own home.
For those who want to volunteer from home without leaving home, you can do this and then do an Internet search for groups who help poor people and mail your hats, scarves, mittens, and other warm items from the post office to them. You don't have to even go far from home to do this type of volunteering. It is great for people with anxiety disorders like Agoraphobia, for example, who would otherwise not go outside to volunteer.
You can do this comfortably in your own safe, home.
For all others, you can go out and find poor people at shelters , soup kitchens, food banks, and in other places in your own communities. Even poor friends and family would appreciate a warm item made by you. So part of my having this blog is to ENCOURAGE YOU to take up a fiber craft and do what I love to do.
Since I am too poor to own my own computer, I am using friend's, family's,and the public library computer.
This is a start.
You can buy (or ask your family and friends to buy for Holiday or birthday gifts) the Knifty Knitter or other brand ) knitting looms at craft shopt, at Wal-mart, or on-line (DO an ON-LINE SEARCH for "Knifty Knitter Looms" or just "Knitting Looms").
Either way, it is very satisfying making warm items for those poor people in need.
I know they need more than warm items, but this is a start for me.

Even little things mean a lot.
Take Care, Iris

It's nice to know there are still people out there who care about others. I think we have to do what we can wherever we are. This world needs more people like you. :)

Great start, Iris!!!! If you lived over here in northeast MS I would let you come over and put your pics on my computer and get your work done here.....but then again, my 3 and one year old wouldn't leave you alone, b/c they don't leave me alone! LOL! Can't wait to see what you got to show! :D

The other nice thing about giving to charity is that it you feel richer for having given.

Iris,
What you have created truly is a labor of love. I've seen the pics on the angelfire site. Beautiful! I know that as long as you are able, you will continue to help those who are in more need than you.
God bless!

Iris,
I think what you are doings is awsome. I make items for Homes open wide that are sent through a lady in our church. It makes me feel good knowing there are children out there warmer because I love to knit, loom knit and crochet.
